Session 49 : 6th of Elint Murders he wrote

The other half of the party returns back carrying back some charred notes, rather glumly. The party does notice the oppressive pang over the forest.
They stumble across pool of blood. After further investigation, the patterns seem to be coming from impacts and started to congeal. After some fruitless attempts at understanding what happened here, the other half of the party made their way to Wintner’s Hall

The smart half

Wintner’s hall

Whilst inconspicuous, Dorian and Iivan harvested the local gossip from behind glasses of the horrible poison the locals call ale. Gunnar was notable by his absence, mumbling something about catching the dog catchers or something in that lineage. It seems that Ixcalacan has been attacked by undead and people are migrating out of Yucan towards Shepherd’s Rest. This is of some concerns to the pair. Of more concerns is the “ale” that sits less well with Iivan given it’s populous origins. Pondering this, The other half walk into Wintner’s Hall, purple veins pulsing.

Luther still advocates for the party to go to Axeholme but everyone retires for the night. The pulsing veins, haggard look and the delusion that they did a good deed sort of cements in the minds of the renegades the need to find a cure, FAST.

Everyone wakes… Some with more hangover than others. Hammerbeard walks in, very agitated and asks what have we done with the annoying runt. The party looked at Luther. Not him growls Hammerbeard, the other one. Being a Dwarf rarely is a direct line to make sense, and this is another fine example. After some questioning, the meaning behind the grumbling beard is glimpsed. It seems that Amberclad hasn’t returned last night.

The guards from Amberclad’s retinue said Navarro sent a message last night about being hurt and wanting to see Amberclad urgently and he hasn’t been seen since. The other half of the party mentioned they had seen blood last night on their way into town. Hammerbeard springs into action and demands to be lead to the site where the other half had seen the gruesome sight. The other half returns to the site, where 9 hours of evidence has decayed. Knowing that Amberclad had probably had his umbrella with him, Greg the guide calls on nature’s magical power to locate the infamous umbrella. Greg locates the umbrella 500 feet of to the right. 3 zombies are feasting on amberclads corpse. The corpse has 3 holes in it amongst the zombie bites. Hammerbeard and the guards dispatch the zombies. Shock hits even the more talkative members of the Renegades. There he lies. He was dressed, his umbrellas, and signet ring are with him. Feeling emboldened by his success in finding the umbrella, Greg once again calls unto nature’s power to commune with the grass. Greg was having grass roots conversation. The grass claims there was 4 impression squishing them, then there was 3 big impression moving out. It happened when the sun was still warming the greedy faces of the blades of grass. When asked what the grass heard, it mentioned Rothman and Coberg from the big lump. No-one in the party claims to know these names. The grass smelled copper. It felt like the end, in the daylight which we expect are zombies came after the lump, signifying zombies might have come after the deed.

Hamlet cleaned up the blood with magic, doing away with the evidence. Convenient.

The party walks back to the keep.

Copperpot is out of his office and the Yucan keep is abuzz with frenetic activity. The 2 Amberclad guards were poisoned with Widow’s Kiss. It leaves a residue like we saw on the victim from the inn after we got the Promise and Fayd failed his test against the giant blue Tiefling. Oh and Luther was skewered, if that’s of any interests to any reader.

The guard seemed to have been poisoned whilst Hammerbeard was away. Dorian invokes helm and sees the poison was placed on their hands and they ingested it.

We go see Amberclad’s room. The bed is made, there’s a picture of Amberclad and his master, Gremeys.

Luther finds his mother’s book, and his looking for a message hidden away. He doesn’t find any.

Nor does Dorian find any remaining traces of poison

Thalos is referenced several times in Amberclad’s works and so is Drakenberg

Iztac is mentioned on our way to Teotza

Teotza is mentioned with a dragon decaying from rot.

Coatlan has no symbol and a lot of questions mark

We have the symbol for the capital

After long minutes, Hamlet announces the umbrella, the signet and glasses are all magical.

The umbrella and glasses are given back to Hammerbeard, while Luther palms the ring for himself as a memento…

Dorian’s religious training helps him remember that Coberg was one of the demon who fought in the war 3000 years ago

Luther seems to pick up some of Amberclads writing in his book. Drakenberg is mentioned, so is Thalos as: “the place you go to eradicate/consume”.

Nick/Silas buys a longbow for 150 gp.

We go to the monolith and Dorian places the compass which points to the next connecting towns and the correct runes to use. There goes Iivan’s life work…

As we arrive in Aavaavcan, a body falls to the floor, George is his name. His body looks like he’s been cut from right shoulder to left hip in a single very sharp cut.

A trail of blood leads to an alley, where George was struck, the town blacksmith.

A towering Half Orc, Sarah, and a Half Elf mage Pascal asks us where we came from. We brilliantly eluded the question and told them we’re here to meet father Dragonor after Luther mentioned that dead bodies keep falling at his feet, 2 on this day. Very suspicious this comment from the Half-Elf.

2 gentlemen walk in, Oswald is the medical expert.

The second is a tall man in priest robes, Father Dragonor

Since of couple of weeks ago, Aavaavcan has been having a problem. They asked for help and Father Lucius sent us. There’s been a spree of un-explained deaths in Aavaavcan.
A couple of weeks, serthames was stabbed while sorting out the gardens. He was the town guard

Quentin, the town idiot was killed 8 days ago as he was arguing with a Dwarf called Grimmond just passing through the town about the old gods. Quentin was also a stabbed after he gave Grimmond a black eye. Grimmond is still in town and will need to be put to the question.

The horse and cow were eaten.

Georges daughter’s named Erin. We need to bring her the grim news.

Now Iivan is convinced that Father Lucius, in all his wisdom, set our feet on the right path. Sadly, at this time, Iivan with his superior vision, can’t for the life of him, see his feet.
